A famous French author once said: “The only constant in life is change”, and here at E.A.S Windows, 2008 will be no exception to that rule. We start the year with my father David, handing over the day-to-day running of the company to me in my new role as Managing Director. My father, who founded the company over 25 years ago will still have a guiding hand on the rudder, and will continue to develop our business and our partner relationships in his new role as Chairman.

I joined the business in 1985 and since then have been involved in every aspect from manufacturing to sales and would like to think I have made a difference working closely alongside my father, in the development and growth of the business.

To meet the challenge that comes with change, I have ambitious plans for the development of E.A.S. Windows. We currently supply the domestic, trade and retail market throughout the East Midlands.  I am looking to expand our Home Improvement range of products and services.  Plans are also in place to increase our service division capability and continue to ensure that our customers are at heart of everything we do through a series of ‘continuous improvement’ initiatives.

One thing that does remain constant and will not change though, is our passion for excellent customer service and our guiding principles of honesty and integrity.

This leads me onto my second point in this article regarding change.  Our market has traditionally been tough to do business in.  Abundant competition means that quality and price are all in favour of the customer, which is as it should be.  However, in order to win business in a crowded marketplace, a number of companies offer cheap products and even cheaper installations.  When this happens, quality is compromised and because a profit must be squeezed out of the charges – the customer receives poor products and sub-standard installations.

I believe that this year things will change.

Information through digital television, the internet and magazines, has thankfully equipped the consumer with a huge amount of  resources that enable better, more informed purchasing decisions to be made. Good websites like ours at www.easwindows.co.uk which detail not only extensive product information but, just as importantly, our customers’ views of their experiences with us, should be the first stop for anyone considering home improvement projects.

In my view, 2008 will be the year when quality and excellent service for the customer will be the key differentiator between the great companies and the cut-price, cut and run outfits.  Consumers will know who the rogues in the market are, and more importantly, how to avoid them.

At E.A.S Windows, we offer the best deals, ones that are founded on genuine high-quality products and services - because our honesty, openness, flexibility and professionalism will continue to be the foundation of our business, 2008 is going to be great year for me to embrace change and take the E.A.S business forward.
