More and more people are setting up a home office from which to conduct their daily business.

However, space within a family residence can sometimes be at a premium.

An alternative option may be to convert an outhouse.

Many homes, particularly those dating from the Victorian era, have outhouses attached to the rear of the property.

These buildings generally housed an outside toilet or, later on, were used as storage areas for firewood or coal.

The outhouse at the E.A.S premises on New Street in Oadby is pictured here before conversion into an office took place.

There are numerous benefits to converting an outhouse into an office space.

The conversion will undoubtedly add value to the property.

It will utilise a part of the property that may otherwise have no particular purpose.

It will create a peaceful environment in which to work.

Finally, in many cases, planning permission does not have to be obtained.

The finished office is pictured right and below.

Multi-folding doors and roof windows have been incorporated to enhance the natural source of light.
