E.A.S. WINDOWS COMPLETES INSTALLATION IN HIGH
PROFILE CONVERSION PROJECT
E.A.S Windows has completed the installation of
nearly 60 windows in a high profile factory
conversion project in the centre of Leicester. The
disused X-Sports warehouse on Braunstone Gate in the
town has been converted into shared student
accommodation alongside commercial and retail
outlets.
With an oversupply of new build flats in Leicester
the developers, Cherriton Properties, opted for an
unusual conversion which has essentially created
seven separate shared occupancy houses within the
warehouse which will be let to students at the
city’s university. In order to retain the style and
character of the building, the windows were coloured
grey on the exterior faces using REHAU’s Acryl II
PVC-U colouring system. This applies a permanent,
scratch and fade resistant coating to the windows
which matches the timber windows which have been
replaced.
Cherriton Properties awarded the contract to E.A.S.
Windows for the fabrication and installation of the
windows and entrance doors on the project because of
their excellent local reputation and their previous
track record in the commercial sector.
E.A.S.
was able to advise on the acoustic specification of the
windows, which was important in the city centre
location, and could guarantee completion of the project
within the tight timescales required before the start of
the new student term.
